Here are some of the Funds
that members may wish to donate to.
CAPITAL FUND
The Capital Fund is made up of funds that are set aside for capital expenditures (eg. furnace, roof, etc) as authorized by Church Council or at the Congregational Meeting.
MEMORIAL FUND
The Memorial Fund was established in 1973 to provide funding for worship, education and programming. Decisions for the use of the funds are made by Church Council.
FRANK & BERNICE COATSWORTH FUND
The Frank & Bernice Coatsworth Fund was established in 1974 to assist in related expenses incurred by members of Blenheim United Church who participate in leadership training and development programs as authorized by the Church Council. Though not exclusively, the priority has been to a youth focus. Administrators of the Fund are appointed by the Church Council.
BENEVOLENT FUND
The Benevolent Fund is to assist persons and families in particular need. Specific details of this fund and its operation are kept confidential. The fund is overseen by the Minister and a treasurer appointed by Church Council.
ENDOWMENT FUND
Money given to the Endowment Fund is a lasting memorial to the donor, or to the person in whose name the money is donated. The Board of Trustees are abligated to hold and invest all donations made to the Fund and can spend only the interest earned from the investments. This interest is given to the Church for capital expenditures each year.
MISSION & SERVICE FUND
The United Church is able to love, serve, and minister
in the world thanks to the Mission and Service Fund. This
unified fund connects us to others around the corner and
around the world to whom we offer a loving hand of support.
The Mission and Service Fund connects us to each other as
members of the United Church in Canada and Bermuda,
enabling us to speak with a united voice in advocacy and
justice work and to participate together in our worship life.
The Mission and Service Fund connects us to our faith: we live
in God's world, we believe in God who works in us and by
the Spirit. The Mission and Service Fund is the only fund in
which members and friends of the United Church pool their givings.
Gifts are also given by members to their local church,
but it is through the Mission and Service Fund that
we collectively live our creed "to be the Church,
to celebrate God's presence, to live with respect in Creation,
to love and serve others, and to seek justice and resist evil."
You can make a gift through your local church,
by sending a gift to the national office
(The United Church of Canada, 3250 Bloor Street West, Suite 300,
Toronto, ON M8X 2Y4 CANADA), or by visiting The United Church of
Canada online donations page
(http://www.strategicprofitsinc.com/unitedchurch/donations/msfund/)
or by contacting a United Church Gift Planner at 1-800-465-3771.
